Pastor Robert E. Slade

Pastor Slade was born in Champaign, Illinois. Growing up on a farm, he attended school in Mahomet, Illinois and later graduated from the Universtiy of Illinois in 1971.

After graduation, he attended Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, being ordained into the ministry in 1974. He has served the following churches: Bethany, Elkader, Iowa; St. John, Ashton, Illinois; Immanuel and Zion, Lawler and Alta Vista, Iowa; St. Matthew, Monticello, Iowa; Lord of Life, Lancaster, Texas; Grace, Harlington, Texas; St. Paul in Nordheim and Runge, Texas; Love of Christ, Weslaco,Texas. He did a year of Clinical Pastoral Education and Chaplaincy at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

He has enjoyed the parish ministry for 43 years and likes to include humor along with a variety of music in the worship services. He is married to his wife, Jan. They have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

Tom Dannelley

Office Administrator

Tom Dannelley joined the LOC staff April 2017. He lives in Alamo and enjoys golf, music, reading mysteries and college sports.

Tom grew up in Central Texas in the town of Belton. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco majoring in Marketing, and played trumpet in the marching band.

The majority of his business career was in the areas of marketing, community relations and business development.

Sandra Thormahlen

Church Organist

Sandra Thormahlen is the organist and choir accompanist. She also plays for services at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harlingen. She is a middle school assistant choir director and accompanist for Harlingen CISD.

She earned a bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Texas, Brownsville and also studied at Texas A & I University in Kingsville and Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. She studied privately in piano, organ and voice and is certified Level 3 in Orff Schulwerk Teacher Training.

Dorothea "Dottie" Martin

Choir Director

Dottie Martin began directing the church choir in the fall of 2005. All LOC attendees are invited to participate by using their singing talents to brighten the worship services. New choir members are always welcome!

The choir practices at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
